Summary: A drabble in the A Woman universe. Summer in Northampton.
Warnings: AU. You don’t like it? Turn back!
Disclaimer: All characters sorta belong to Disney. Kinda. I’ve made them
into Victorians, so what can I say? I’m not making any money off of this.
Author's Notes:
A drabble, exactly 100 words. For Liz and
everyone else who was having a shite day.

There was nothing like a Northampton morning in summer, and in that
Northampton morning, there was nothing like Smith College, down near
Paradise Pond, beyond the factories and into the College Botanic Gardens.
The smell of the tannery and the foundry a short walk south seemed to
disappear, replaced by the scent of flowering trees.
Elizabeth Swanwick was wearing a light rose dress. The color flattered
her immensely, but there was something still missing.
Both her escorts reached up to pluck a blossom from a nearby dogwood;
and four rough hands slowly twined the flower into her hair, in benediction.
